And we felt equally bad when Bajaj Auto announced that it won’t make those iconic scooters any more. It was nothing less than a heartbreak.
Though that’s you call moving ahead with the time. Motor bikes and auto geared scooters had taken over the good old scooters and Bajaj Pulsar was company’s new blue-eyed boy. Soon these scooters faded in the background.
Snap to the current and the script has changed again. Bajaj Auto is busy promoting a part of the old jingle Hamara Kal. The company is getting ready to unveil its new electric scooter brand Urbanite.
The first vehicle under Bajaj Urbanite brand will be an electric scooter and if rumours are to be believed, Bajaj might try to revive the moniker Chetak with this launch. This will not only help Bajaj connect with the old loyalists easily. It aims at offering best of both the world’s – nostalgic name but with chic and latest features.
Bajaj Urbanite Electric Scooter
The upcoming electric scooter from Bajaj is set to launch on 16th October. It was recently spotted doing test round on the streets of Pune. Going by the design of this scooter, it looks like that the scooter will sport a retro design, similar to the likes of Vespa scooters.
Bajaj is expected to retain many signature features of Chetak scooter, most prominent one will be single-sided front fork.

While not much is known about the Bajaj e-scooter at this point in time, but what has been doing rounds in leaks is that the vehicle will be as futuristic as its competitors. It will have multiple LED lights, blue tooth connectivity, and ports to charge your mobile phone and AI features.
Bajaj Urbanite Electric Scooter price
The price of the upcoming Bajaj electric scooter is expected to be way more than the old Chetak scooters. As per the rumours, the scooter is expected to be priced approximately around Rs. 1 Lakh and may compete against the likes of Ather 450 and others.
Though the biggest difference between Ather and Bajaj’s scooter could be the availability. While Ather is limited to Southern part of India that too in Bangaluru, Chennai and Mysore as of now with Pune launch slated soon.
However, with Bajaj’s network and support Urbanite electric scooter might cater to a wider market.
So like anyone else, we will also wait for Bajaj to take off wraps from its new battery powered scooter. With the launch date just a few days away let us hum to the Bajaj tune…. Hamara kal, hamara aaj…buland bharat ki buland tasweer…Hamaraaaa…Bajaj!
