According to the reports, approximately 17 people have died by drowning during the Ganesh visarjan across different cities in Maharashtra in last 24 hours. In addition to that, at least 5 people have are reportedly missing in similar incidents.
Thousands of people across Maharashtra and other states went out to attend the procession of Ganpati Visarjan on Thursday as it was the last of 10-Day long Ganesh Chathurthi celebration.
Similar incidents were reported in other cities in which 11 people died after a boat sank during Ganpati Visarjan at Bhopal’s Khatlapura Ghat Friday morning.
Following the incident, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath has asked for a magisterial inquiry into the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to each families of dead.
